Intro to Front-End Web Development

Overview

Having a dynamic web presence is an important communication tool for every organisation, large or small. Having the know-how to create, maintain and update an efficient and productive website is a core business skill that adds value to any role, whether as a business owner, marketing professional, web designer or member of any digital team.

This highly interactive, hands-on, course is ideal for those who want to be able to create bespoke websites using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, the industry-standard tools. It will get you thinking like a developer with the practical skills to match.

The course explores the benefits and practical use of core technologies to build well-crafted front-end apps and websites.
You will learn how to:

  • create and display content in a browser

Course Outline

You will gain a fundamental understanding of the following:

  • introduction to the web and associated technologies
  • adding content to a website using HTML
  • positioning and styling content using CSS
  • basic user interaction with JavaScript
  • project and deployment

It is also ideal for those wishing to progress to learning deeper web coding skills using JavaScript in the Web Application Development course.

Course Delivery

Classes are delivered by experienced developers and instructors in a practical, hands-on style involving both lessons and labs. Some additional homework may be required each week.

We maintain a high instructor:student ratio and focus on building deep knowledge of key concepts and skills in an immersive environment.

Progression

This course is the first in a series of evening courses designed for people wish to learn how to code through front-end web development. From this course you might progress to our Web Application Development course, or, if you are interested in back-end development using Ruby, our Intro to Programming course, or try our self-paced Python course.
